The 530 error is not caused by CuteFTP. The 530 error code and the repeated requests for the username and password are coming directly from the remote FTP server. The remote FTP server is rejecting the username and password combination that is being submitted to it. This error is usually accompanied by repeated requests for the FTP account username and password. When attempting to log on to a remote FTP site, a 530 status code is encountered, resulting in an error message similar to one of the following examples: Web browsers still tell me that my password is incorrect.THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO: It still only works with Filezilla though.

I got it to work in passive mode, by limiting the usable ports to 5000-5100 and forwarded those ports in the router also. For passive mode settings, I have tried using both my DynDNS URL in the "Use the folloing IP:" box, and also "Retrieve exteral IP address from:" the default

My router's firewall is currently set to low security, allowing all incoming and outgoing connections. Trying it with the actual Filezilla client, it is able to log in, goes into passive mode, and fails from there. I did some Googling and found others with the same problem, but not solutions. Turning off the Windows firewall changes nothing. I have DynDNS running on the server, the port opened in the Windows firewall, and the port open and forwarded on the router (FiOS combined modem router). I configured it to run on port 2121 since Verizon/Frontier are a bunch of jerks and won't seem to let any incoming connections on port 21. Looking at the log on the server, it says "530 Login or Password Incorrect!" whenever I try to connect. I can connect to it just fine from any computer inside my network, but when I try to connect from outside, it wont let me in. I set up Filezilla, and it seems to be working correctly inside my network. I just set up a new PC to act as a personal file/media server running Server 2008 R2 Standard.
